Year 11 Home Economics students took part in a Food Technology day in Loughry College Cafre in Cookstown. During the day they took part in practical workshop activities including, ice cream making, chocolate making, bread making and acids in foods. They explored other issue including gas exchange in human respiration during exercise and developing new isotonic drinks. To finish they looked at modified Atmosphere packaging and new product development including waste awareness in the food industry. Click on the image below to view pictures from the event.

Natalie Eastwood in Yr 12 has won the BELB Dairy Cook of the Year. She has won £500 of equipment for the HE department and a luxury food hamper and a cash prize for herself.
Natalie also had success in the future chef competition in December.
