Aquinas pupils showcase their work at Belfast Fashion Week
Tuesday 10th March 2009
A-Level Art and Design students have taken part in the West Coast Cooler, Belfast Fashion Week. The work on show was a result of many months of hard work from all those that took part. From the initial ideas, research, experimenting with various materials, techniques and technologies the pupils designed and made the garments from scratch. The initial theme for this project was based on “a metaphor for the disappearing world” each pupil took very different approaches to this theme and the outcomes were all produced from recycled materials.
As the project developed the pupils took part in a number of workshops held at the University of Ulster, here they worked on developing their skills in a number of fashion and textile disciplines. The pupils had the opportunity to work with tutors and practising artists in the area of fashion and textiles.
