The mathematical magic of Pi Day descended on Aquinas this year on 12th March (two days before International Pi Day and Einstein’s birthday, due to the inconvenience of schools being closed on Sundays). Without doubt the school’s celebration of our favourite irrational number was enhanced for 2010 by the unveiling of Ms J Connolly’s brand new Pi Day songs and the beautiful singing of The Pi Barber Singers from Year 11, namely Jimmy Donaghy, Tomás Flanigan and Peter Brennan. Bravo, boys!

On 15th January, we welcomed Year 10 pupils, their parents and pupils from St Joseph’s college to the Aquinas STEM careers workshops. The aim of this initiative was to inform and educate our pupils about career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, to help them make informed decisions about their subject choices and future career paths.To find out more and view photographs from the event click the image below.
Pi Day 2009 was a great success. Not only was it a bundle of mathematical fun, but it also contributed £183.43 to Trócaire. Click on the image below to find out more.
