Aquinas overcame a stiff challenge from a motivated and talented St. Malachy’s in an enthralling match.

Trailing by 2-3 to 0-2 at the break, St. Malachy’s fought back with the aid of a strong breeze to draw level with 10 mins remaining on the clock, however some great work in the midfield area from John Mc Kenna and Kevin McElroy resulted in some well taken scores by a talented forward line.

Aquinas were strong all over the pitch with another big performance from Niall Boyle and some excellent defending by corner back Niall Colton, good forward play from Owen Costello, Mathew Hollywood and Conall Devlin.

This puts Aquinas in their third Brother Nolan final in six years and after last years defeat to Ballyshannon, many of the Aquinas lads who featured in that final will wish to leave with winner’s medals.
