Tuesday 18 June 2024 Year 11 Geography field trip The year 11 geographers enjoyed a day of fieldwork recently in Newcastle. They investigated the changing characteristics of the River Shimna between the source and the mouth. They got to carry out fieldwork processes, collect data and have a bit of fun while doing so.

Thursday 23 May 2024 Ulster Schools Track and Field Championships 2024 Aquinas had three students running at the District finals held at the Mary Peters Track on Friday 26 April. Katie Napier ran in the Minor Girls 800m. Rory Armstrong competed in the 1500m Junior Boys race. He came second, which qualified him for the Ulsters on Wednesday 15 May where he came fourth.

Wednesday 22 May 2024 Hillsborough Castle Biodiversity Trip 10F took part in a biodiversity sampling activity in the gardens of Hillsborough Castle. During their visit, the students learned how to use a range of survey equipment to sample different habitats and how to conduct a fair test. They then were able to compare and contrast different habitats to learn about the biodiversity at Hillsborough Castle gardens. Beautiful weather helped to make it a fantastic day!

Tuesday 27 February 2024 Drama Trip to Venice Carnival As A-level Drama students, we were so lucky to be able to take a trip to the Venice Carnivale, 2024. It was an amazing experience, and we saw incredible, fantastical costumes and Street Theatre performances with the beautiful city of Venice as the perfect backdrop. Being immersed in theatre all around us was incredible to witness and to be a part of. For me, the highlight was the walking tour around Venetian Theatres, with a local actor as our guide. We learned a lot about the historical parts of Venice and the rich culture of Commedia dell 'Art.

Tuesday 6 February 2024 Public Speaking Success for Romav After winning the Belfast heats of the Soroptimist public speaking competition in November, Romav then went on to represent our school in the grand final in Hillsborough on Saturday. Here she competed against 22 other girls from various schools around Northern Ireland and I am thrilled to say she scooped second prize! This is another incredible achievement for Romav. She is an inspiration.
